Not too many random thoughts today...
Too tired to be creative, will just type whatever pops into my head....
Lots of OT for me this month. I believe 60 hours total. That beaucoup of cash.
I can't believe how many people are calling in sick these days. I'm sure part of it is true, but I also think a lot of people didn't get the time off they wanted so instead they just call in sick. Sweet!
Me and C are definitely going tobogganing tomorrow. The snow may be gone by the end of the week so we have to take advantage. The official wife is getting her hair cut, so we're going to have a father/son outing! Lucky me!
Did you know that there is nothing even remotely entertaining on tv at 0200 am. Nothing, Nada. Zilch. Zippo.

Middle of the Night, Random Thoughts...

Dr. Phil's show a couple of weeks ago about how bad the 911 system is, was an absolute joke.
I'd like to see Dr. Phillis sit in a Communication's Center for a day and see what REALLY happens there.
Snowing again. Still no diabolical storm. But it did make driving into work fun. It's always fulfilling when you can pass a Trooper because they don't know how to driver their rear-wheel drive Patrol car in the snow.
I'm working tonight... which is not usual. But, 8 hours of Overtime at Double Pay is good cash during the Christmas season. Especially since I just put four new tires on the wifeys car.
Apparently people at work think I'm crazy for driving my '91 Cavalier into work without any chains. For one thing, I don't own chains. For two, I've never used chains and probably wouldn't know how to put them on. Remember peeps, I grew up in the Soo... Snow for 6 months out of the year. Now leave me alone already.
Today is PayDay. Nice. Check that. Tomorrow is PayDay.
It's amazing how many pipes are bursting in these parts due to the cold. Houses here just aren't insulated well enough to be able to handle this type of weather.
I wish I had a 4x4 truck with a winch so that I could pull fellow motorists out of the ditch. Its the giving season, so I'd only charge them 40 bucks. Tow trucks are charging 150.
Okay, let's talk about sports. Specifically the NFL. More specifically the Denver Broncos. What a sad state of affairs that team is. They could have wrapped up a division title in either of the last two weeks. But couldn't get it done. Now they have the near impossible task of going to San Diego and beating the Chargers who will be playing for the Division title themselves. Good going guys. Way to waste a season.
I think we'll go tobogganing again today. Must enjoy the snow while we have it because it'll inevitably be gone by the end of the week.
So...with the weather we have right now... I'm not really buying into the whole Global Warming thing.
And...this past summer wasn't all that hot either.
Okay, those are my random thoughts for the day.
The Storm That Wasn't
90 MPH winds? No
12 inches of snow? Negative
Freezing rain? Nyet
For three days, all we heard about was this winter storm of Biblical Proportions was going to cripple Western Washington. As I look at the flags outside of headquarters here in downtown Bellevue, they lay limp. So what happened to the storm? Now I'm no meteorologist but I figure that the Olympic Mountains probably did their job and diverted it North and South of us. A few scattered power outages, some snow on the roads and a slight breeze. A storm, yes. Biblical? No a chance.
We did get out tobogganing today with the Official Son of the Nut. Pic included.
Let's see what Sunday brings.

5 Random Thoughts of a Random Thinker

5. I'm already sick of the 'Happy Holidays'. Why can't we just say Merry Christmas? Please. I'm asking nice. Do I need to wear a sign around my neck that says, "It's okay to say Merry Christmas to me, I won't be offended?" Drastic times mean drastic measures. I'm pretty sure I complain about this every year. PC sucks.
4. Tobogganing. That's Canadian for sledding. There is snow on the ground still which means we have a green light for tobogganing on Saturday. Caleb should enjoy it. I won't enjoy lugging him back up the hill each time.
3. So, the weather 'experts', and I use this term loosely, are predicting a storm of BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS this weekend. Are you serious? Were any of these clowns even alive during any time of the Bible. Give me a break. A little wind, some freezing rain, snow and ice. Big deal. We still have a gas fireplace and a toasty house. Pretty sure Peter, James and Johh had less. Don't give me this Biblical Proportion crap about a little bad weather. Bring on the LOCUSTS!
2. Does anyone else think that Caylee Anthony's mother should be strapped to Sparkey and fried for about a week? Too bad Florida retired Sparkey in favor of lethal injection. She deserves to cook. And feel the pain.
1. Bring on the storm. I'm waiting.

Not a weekly thing...

I don't anticipate a week going by between posts. Last weekend was exhausting. I could barely make it through work. Just a little peek at what I went through... Thursday evening, I came into work and worked my usual, 4pm to 4am. Slept for about 5 hours, ran some errands, slept for another hour, then back to work for another 4pm to 4am shift. Slept Saturday morning from 4:30 until 7:30, then was off to a CPR / First Aid class for First Responders from 8am until 5pm. Then, back to work at 6pm until 6am. Basically, I ended up with just a few hours of sleep over a 2 day period. It was admittedly rough. I won't be trying that again anytime soon.
It snowed here this week, and the roads are covered. Spending the bulk of my teen and young adult life in Northern Ontario Canada, driving in the snow is not a big deal. Not trying to be cocky or arrogant about it, but I feel pretty confident and comfortable driving on the white stuff. The same cannot be said about my fellow Puget Sounders. Today on I90 on the way to work, single file traffic from North Bend, average speed about 25mph. So I pulled into the quick lane, bumped it up to about 50 -60 and made it to work on time. Passing Hummers, Suburbans, Jeeps and Subarus in my little Ford Focus was almost comical. Come one peeps, it's just snow. Not even ice, or sleet or freezing rain.
The official son of the Nut had a great time in the snow today though. Mostly he liked to eat it, but in general was a good sport about it. He laughed when we made snow angels, and didn't laugh when he fell and got it in his face. You gotta believe he's got some good old Canadian blood in his system. Good times.
Christmas is almost here. Unbelievably so. Kind of snuck up on us. I have to work on the Eve and the Day, so it won't be a normal Christmas. Who decides what normal really is though? Until the next time.
Peace,
The Nut.
